Can You Lose Twitch Affiliate?

Working your way up and becoming a Twitch affiliate is undoubtedly a challenging goal to achieve, and while it feels satisfying to be an affiliate, it also makes some streamers feel uneasy about their future, and they ask whether you can lose affiliate on Twitch by making a mistake.

The answer to that question is yes! You can lose your Twitch affiliate or partner status if you happen to be in violation of the platform’s terms of services or simply lose your edge as a streamer. In today’s post, we’ll explore the possible ways that can cause streamers to lose their affiliate status and talk about reapplying for the Twitch affiliate program.

Possible Ways to Lose Twitch Affiliates

The following are the most common reasons streamers lose their affiliate status on Twitch. Take a close look at them and see if you’re making any of these mistakes yourself.

1. Dropping Below Requirements

Twitch requires streamers to fulfill a certain criterion before they can apply for the affiliate partnership program. Here are the things you must ensure to become an affiliate:

• Have 50 or more followers
• Stream for eight or more hours
• Stream on seven different days
• Have an average of 3 viewers on your stream

If you consistently fulfill these requirements over a 30-day period, you’ll be eligible to apply for the affiliate program. Now, let’s say you become an affiliate on Twitch, and at some point, your followers drop below 50, or you lose viewers.

Once that happens, Your Twitch affiliate agreement will go null and void, and you will lose your affiliate status. The best option to save your affiliate status in a situation like this is to buy Twitch followers and views.

Through this strategy, you’ll be able to maintain the stats required for the affiliate program and thus save your partnership. However, you shouldn’t let things come to this point, and keep up the hard work to maintain the stats on your own. But if the ball drops, don’t waste time and purchase Twitch followers and viewers without wasting a second.

2. Inactivity

Twitch expects a lot from its affiliate partners and wants them to become upstanding members of the community by staying active. But if you don’t honor this expectation and remain inactive for over 12 months, Twitch has the right to suspend your affiliate partnership.

Make sure to stream consistently in order to avoid this situation and spend enough time with your audience, so fulfill your role as an affiliate and stay safe.

3. Breaking Twitch’s Terms of Services

Going against Twitch’s Terms of Services will not only cost you your affiliate partnership, but you can also lose your whole account for committing this offense.

Twitch started in its Terms and Services that:

“Any use of the Twitch Services in violation of the foregoing violates these Terms of Service and may result in, among other things, termination or suspension of your rights to use the Twitch Services.”

As you can see that Twitch shows no leniency to the users who violate the Terms of Services, and if your account is found in violation of the terms, then you will immediately lose your affiliate status and even your account too. (Deletion of an account is decided on a case basis by Twitch).

So, no matter what happens, always follow the Terms of Services and never commit an act that violates them.

4. End of Agreement

Twitch allows streamers to end the affiliate agreement with them at any point, and the platform holds this right too. It means that if you lose your affiliate status suddenly, then it may be due to the end of the agreement from either of the parties.

Since you can never know when Twitch might decide to end your term of the agreement, there’s no way to avoid this situation. However, you can always try to uphold the principles and be a good partner, so you continue being an affiliate for a long time.

5. Not Streaming Often Enough

If you don’t stream frequently and fail to keep your audience engaged, this might also result in you losing the affiliate status. As we mentioned earlier, Twitch expects a lot from its affiliates and wants them to stay active on the platform.

Now, staying active doesn’t mean watching streams and interacting with peers – it means that you need to stream and engage the audience. That’s the only way you’ll prove your worth as a valuable Twitch affiliate and get to keep your status.

6. Streaming on Another Platform

Twitch affiliate agreement bounds the partners to not stream on other platforms while they are streaming on Twitch. This might seem like a restriction, but it’s a limitation that Twitch implemented to keep the partners focused only on one platform.

Stopping affiliates from multi-streaming allows them to come up with more creative ways of streaming on Twitch, which not only improves their status but also enhances the quality of content on the platform itself.

7. Streaming Banned Games

Twitch has banned the streaming of certain games on the platform, and playing them during a stream can cause you to lose your affiliate status. Most of the games banned on Twitch contain nudity or extreme violence, which goes against the Terms of Services.

You can check out the list of banned games and make sure to stay away from them to keep your affiliate Twitch partner status intact.

Reapplying for Twitch Affiliate Program

You can always reapply for the Twitch affiliate program if your account isn’t in contempt of the platform’s Terms and Services, and you fulfill all the requirements for being a partner. If you ended the Affiliate agreement yourself and ended things on good terms, you can simply request the Twitch admins to let you back in the program, and they will do so.

However, if your affiliate status was revoked by the platform for some reason, the conditions will be different. First, you’ll have to get rid of any possible objection that made Twitch admins revoke your status. Once you make sure that you’re not making that mistake anymore, you can go ahead and reapply for the affiliate program.

If you get lucky and receive an invite from Twitch regarding the affiliate program, just follow these steps:

Step 1: Open your Creator Dashboard and go to preferences.

Step 2: Now, you can start filling in the information required for the affiliate program. First, enter your general information.

Step 3: Next, sign the Twitch affiliate agreement, agreeing to the terms of the program.

Step 4: Provide your tax information to Amazon by completing the Royalty and Service Tax Interviews

Step 5: Complete the Tipalti form to select the preferred location where you would like Twitch to send your payment.

If you don’t get the invitation automatically, reach out to Twitch support and let them know about your situation. Hopefully, they will reconsider and give you another chance.

Conclusion

Streamers get panicked pretty quickly when they lose their affiliate status – they just can’t comprehend why it happened to them and sometimes give up on their goals. Well, we hope that you won’t ever face this situation as you’ve learned your lesson from today’s article.
