You’re crushing it in live-streaming, keeping your viewers hooked with epic gameplay, fresh takes on games, or IRL moments. But now it’s time to level up and tap into your community for support. Enabling bits are the perfect way to make that happen—an awesome tool to engage your fans while helping you grow.
When you enable Bits on Twitch, you open a new gateway for people to show appreciation without needing external platforms. Plus, every interaction brings more fun to your Twitch channel and gives your viewers another reason to stay connected. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the entire process to enable Bits on Twitch effectively.
What Are Twitch Bits?
Bits are Twitch’s own digital currency, which viewers use to show love and support during their streams. Viewers purchase Bits and then use them to cheer in chat, triggering cool animations or special sounds in the stream. It’s like fans saying, “You’re killing it!” with more than just words.
But it doesn’t stop there—Bits come with their bonus perks, such as unique Cheermotes (animated emotes for extra hype) and Chat Badges that level up based on how many Bits a viewer has used in your stream. In short, Bits offers an exciting alternative to traditional ways to collect donations, making the process more interactive and fun for both streamers and their audiences. The bottom line: more cheering, more connections, more fun!
Benefits of Enabling Twitch Bits
Enabling Bits on Twitch can transform your live-streaming game, adding a layer of energy that turns casual viewers into dedicated supporters. Plus, Bits brings serious benefits to your Twitch journey, giving your audience fun ways to engage while you benefit.
1. Monetary Support
When viewers cheer using Bits, you receive direct financial contributions that add up quickly. The monetary value of each Bit may seem small, but it can stack up as your audience engages more. This provides an income stream beyond just subscriptions or sponsorships, rewarding you for your time and effort.
2. Community Engagement
Bits aren’t just currency—they’re a tool for creating interaction. Your viewers can send exciting Cheermotes in the chat, hyping you and encouraging others to join in. This gamifies the experience, drawing your audience deeper into the fun and making the conversation livelier.
3. Access to Unique Features
Unlocking Bits gives you and your viewers access to cool chat features like custom animated emotes and exclusive badges. Plus, the more they cheer, the cooler badges they unlock, adding extra status to their profile. It’s a win-win that encourages ongoing engagement.

- Enable Bit badges that viewers can earn, set “Bit Thresholds” (how many Bits someone needs to unlock perks), and tweak your Cheermotes to hype up your audience. Customizing gives your stream that personal flair your community will love.

Customize Your Bits for Better Engagement
Getting creative with Bits is essential to stand out in the Twitch community and drive more engagement from your audience. Unique settings encourage viewers to participate while making your stream more personal and exciting. Let’s look at how to customize your Bits for maximum impact.
1. Setting Up Bit Badges
Set up custom chat badges for different Bit thresholds to make your supporters feel recognized. Navigate to your “Bits & Cheering” settings, then select the custom Bit badges option. Create unique designs to reward top contributors—these badges will be displayed next to their username in chat. The more exclusive the badge, the more people want to earn it.
2. Customizing Cheermotes
Head to your “Bits & Cheering” section in your dashboard, then select the “Cheermote settings” tab. Here, you can upload custom designs for various Bit amounts. Consider creating Cheermotes that reflect inside jokes or themes from your channel to give them personality. Add multiple tiers so the animations change as viewers cheer with more Bits.
3. Adjusting Bit Minimums
You’ll also find an option to set Bit minimums in your Bits settings. If you want to encourage larger contributions, set a higher minimum to unlock certain perks. Alternatively, keep it accessible with a lower threshold if your goal is fostering community engagement from everyone.
Conclusion
Cheering with Bits isn’t just about money; it’s a powerful way to connect with your audience and create an interactive, hype-filled stream. When viewers cheer, they’re not just showing support—they’re part of the action, building energy and showing off their loyalty with custom emotes and badges.
Enabling Bits adds another layer of motivation for your community to grow and thrive. From rewarding your biggest fans with special chat features to increasing your income with minimal extra effort, Bits can seriously amplify your stream’s vibe and potential.
