How to Get More Likes on YouTube?

How to get more likes on YouTube? This is a question that most new Youtubers ask. YouTube is a platform loved by people of all ages, and many people try to make a name for themselves here. Currently, there are more than 51 million YouTube channels, and this number has increased by 36% from last year.

Every day more than 2.5 billion people watch 5 billion videos, which means that the competition for grabbing attention is getting fiercer with every passing day. So, in this article, we’ll share some tactics that will help boost your YouTube channel’s likes and engagement rate considerably.

How to Get More YouTube Likes?

Finally, here are the best-recommended tips to get more YouTube likes and followers. Apply them consistently to gain quick results.

1. Write an Attractive Title

Video titles are crucial in grabbing the audience’s attention and convincing them to watch content. Studies show that people prefer watching videos with short and attractive titles, as they are easy to process. Therefore, try to come up with clever titles for your videos. YouTube allows creators to write titles with up to 100 characters.

But you should stick to 60 or 70 characters as it will keep the title short and readable. Highlight your video’s main description by encapsulating it in a bracket, like [How-To-Sing] or [Gameplay-Review]. Similarly, add a relevant keyword with a high-search volume in your title for better searchability.

Ensuring all these elements will make your titles more eye-catching and search engines friendly. And that will make it easier for you to get YouTube likes on all your videos.

2. Create Extraordinary Content

It goes without saying that if you want many people to watch your video, you need to create extraordinary content. Good content is the key answer to how to get more likes on YouTube. It sounds easy, but actually, it’s a lot more difficult than it seems. Let’s take a look at the extraordinary content that is made. How to Make High-quality Video Content?

There are a number of factors that affect the quality of content, like your consistency, nature of the content, filming, ambiance, etc. If you want a great video ranking, then you need to hit all these factors and follow these tips:

• Ensure good filming quality
• Be creative with your content
• Create content about trends
• Ensure consistency
• Learn from mistakes and improve your content

You can keep learning about quality content by following other YouTubers in your niche. It will definitely help you create better content and increase watch hours and Likes on YouTube videos.

3. Use a Custom Thumbnail

For most viewers, thumbnails serve as a deciding factor that convinces them to either watch or ignore a video. It means that your video’s thumbnail decides whether it will get thousands of views or just a few. Therefore, it makes sense to make beautiful custom thumbnails that can help your videos get likes on YouTube.

Ensure that your thumbnail highlights the content of the video and gives the audience an idea of what to expect. Give it bright colors and an attractive layout, so it can make people stop scrolling.

Also, follow the trends in thumbnail making, and revamp your old thumbnails from time to time. Remember that 90% of the most viewed videos on YouTube have a custom thumbnail – so get to work.

4. Write a Great Description

YouTube video description helps the audience and the search engines figure out what your video is all about. Writing a perfect description for your videos boosts their searchability, and that leads to better engagement and likes. Perhaps that’s why the platform allows the creators to write up to 5000 characters in the description section.

It means that you can go all out on the details. But the problem is that viewers mostly see only the top three lines because the rest get encapsulated. Make the starting count and write strong statements about the content in the first two lines to capture the audience’s attention.

Add the target keywords in the top lines as well, as they serve no purpose at the end of the description. Once you reach the middle, add some more details about the nature of your content and explain the idea behind it.

End the description with a call to action statement and embed links to your videos, social media channels, website, etc. Help the audience understand your artistic approach through video descriptions and increase likes.

5. Use Relevant Hashtags and Tags

First of all, hashtags and tags on YouTube are two different things and not the same. They both help your videos get discovered by the audience and thus get more views and likes simultaneously. Hashtags are the highlighted blue phrases that are used to increase a video’s searchability and visibility on the platform.

You must include them in your video titles and descriptions but in moderation. Use hashtags carelessly, and it will make it hard to find your videos. Hence, only add 2 to 3 hashtags that are most trending and relevant to your video. Now, tags are basically keywords that help the YouTube algorithm recognize a video’s genre and nature of the content.

Adding appropriate and relevant hashtags to your videos increases their searchability, and they end up showing on the top of search results. However, you have to pick your tags carefully.

Ensure they are relevant, have a high search volume, and are added in moderation. Add only 5-8 in the title; description and tags must be relevant to the content – this fact can’t be emphasized enough.

6. Ask Likes for Your Videos

There’s no shame in asking viewers to like your YouTube video. Many famous and successful Youtubers do it too. In fact, they do it to engage their audience and try to set goals for a number of likes to see how their audience responds to their call.

You can also ask for people to like your videos or your content, or you can preach to your friends to see your content and like it.

7. Interact with Your Audience

Being a Youtuber isn’t just about creating videos and then trying to promote them. It is about building a community and then interacting with them to show you care about them. Try to talk to your subscribers by doing a Live stream and by answering their questions. Also, make sure to reply to their comments.

This creates a real bond between viewers and Youtubers. It also increases the chance of viewers recommending your YouTube channel to their friends, which simply means more likes and subscribers.

8. Create Playlists

Playlists are not just a way to organize your content but also to get more likes. People these days prefer watching playlists these days instead of searching for individual videos. They simply choose a playlist of their favorite music or videos and let it run. That brings more views to your videos and boosts their odds of getting likes.

So, make playlists on your channel by compiling relevant videos together. It will allow viewers to quickly find the content they are looking for, and as a result, you’ll gain more likes.

9. Upload Transcript

Transcripts, which are basically the written version of your video, make it easier for people to understand and process the content. It especially facilitates the viewers who speak other languages or have a hearing impairment. And that makes your videos get more likes on YouTube.

That’s why experts suggest that you should transcribe your videos and upload the file to facilitate your viewers. Of course, you can also use YouTube auto-captioning, which uses speech recognition to capture the words and show them on the screen.

But it’s not that effective since there is always a margin of error in recognizing homophonic words. It’s best to put in some hard work and compile a transcription for the best results.

10. Make Use of Analytics

YouTube analytics are an excellent way to keep an eye on the stats and see where things are falling out. One look at the analytics dashboard can give you an overview of the channel’s current situation. You can observe the performance of previous videos and see which ones did well, which ones fell through the cracks, which ones were a total flop, etc.

It also tells you which specific audience demographics interact more with your content. All this information can be used to fill the holes and improve the videos so they can attract more likes.

11. Add YouTube Cards for Your Videos

YouTube cards are elements that are basically used for cross-promotion. They are carefully placed at the end of videos and can be used to redirect people to your website, polls, or other videos or playlists. They are especially useful for throwing the viewers on a binge streak.

Now, when someone watches your videos one after the other, it definitely boosts their engagement and likes. Make sure to place cards at the end of all your videos, and don’t add more than 5, or the screen will look cluttered.

12. Host Viral Contests and Giveaways

Don’t we all love it when something comes to us for free? Hosting online contests and YouTube giveaways strikes this particular psyche and attracts people to your YouTube channel. Setting up contests and giveaways is pretty simple – just announce the event, set criteria, and let the fun begin.

Do ensure to promote the event on other platforms, so maximum people take part in it. Once the word spreads about your contest, people will come running towards your channel to get a chance to win the prize. And that will boost organic traffic, eventually leading to increased engagement, including likes.

13. Do Embedding

The topic of digital promotion is incomplete without mentioning the “Embedding” tactic. You must embed your YouTube videos in a website or blog, so the visitors can watch them and boost their engagement. This way, you’ll not only get more likes straight from the website but also be able to drive traffic to your channel.

As a result, all your videos will get more engagement, and the visitors might also subscribe to your channel.

14. Optimize End Screens

A well-articulated and aesthetic end screen can convince the viewers to watch your suggested videos and increase likes on YouTube videos. Now, there are two things you can do to make your end screens more convincing and increase their conversion rate:

• Add the link to your most popular video in a card and place it on the left side.
• On the right side, add the link to a video appropriate to the current video the viewers just watched.

Adding these two cards gives the viewer an option to keep watching the same content or explore your best video. Either way, your content will get more likes and engagement, which fulfills the goal.

15. Use Social Media Platforms

In order to increase likes on YouTube videos, you first have to get enough views on them. Now, either you can sit back and wait for people to come or visit your videos, which doesn’t make sense. Or you can take the initiative and promote your YouTube videos.

And what better way to promote videos than to use social media platforms that are a major source of YouTube traffic? You just need to paste the link to your videos on social networks like X, TikTok, etc. Tell your friends to check out your videos and leave a like.

And since most of the people on social media already know you, they will definitely do so to support your channel. This way, you’ll be able to spread the word about your channel, get more traffic, and boost video likes at the same time.

16. Post at the Right Time

Posting time makes a lot of difference in your video’s potential to get more engagement. If you upload videos at the right time when most of your target audience is active on YouTube, they will automatically get more likes, and engagement.

That’s why experts suggest that creators should observe the behavior pattern of their target audience and figure out the best time to post. Having this information will allow you to present your content right in front of the audience and receive more likes from them.

17. Brace Up the Watch Time

Also, you got to improve your channel’s session time, which affects the watch hours. Don’t know what “session time” is? Well, basically, it’s time a viewer spends on YouTube after watching your video. A good session time is if someone watches your video and it convinces him to stay on YouTube and watch more videos.

For instance, a session time of 30 seconds is bad, but if it’s about 10 minutes, it’s going to boost your channel’s ranking. Now, the best way to improve session time and watch hours is to put your best videos on the channel’s homepage. It will not only encourage the audience to keep watching but also gives them like.
