Tidal is the world’s only true artist-owned music streaming service, providing access to more than 110 million audio tracks and music videos. The first platform of its kind to support HiFi sound and hi-def video quality, Tidal provides aspiring artists with an invaluable entry point to the music industry.
But when faced with such huge competition, getting a decent number of fans and followers on board can be tricky. Popularity is everything when looking to build an engaged audience of listeners, so you need all the followers you can get. The more followers you have on Tidal, the easier it becomes to present yourself as a popular and famed artist.
At this point, you stand every chance of hitting the big time. In this guide, we’ll be taking a look at the most effective ways to get more followers on Tidal and to gradually build the kind of artist profile that speaks for itself.
13 Effective Ways To Get More Followers on Tidal
The number of followers you have is critical for two reasons. First of all, you (of course) need an active and engaged audience of listeners. Otherwise, the rest is inconsequential. Secondly, you need an established audience to be taken seriously by other listeners. Popular artists and musicians on Tidal are always more appealing and engaging.
The more followers you already have, the easier it becomes to bring new followers on board. Tidal itself is engineered to automatically recommend popular artists – another benefit of having plenty of followers. Hence, you need to do whatever it takes to get followers on Tidal. There are plenty of ways of expanding your audience, but which are most effective in practice?
1. Claim and Customize Your Tidal for Artists Profile
The importance of a fully customized and optimized Tidal profile cannot be overstated. In the eyes of fans and followers, the way you present yourself is just as important as the quality of the music you put out. Your profile picture needs to have a professional look, your bio needs to tell a convincing story, and you need to make every effort to ensure that your profile is 100% unique.
Simply claiming an artist profile on Tidal and leaving it to its own devices is not enough. Bear in mind that any potential followers you hook with your music will check out your profile before deciding whether or not to follow you. If they like what they see, they’ll be far more likely to hit the “follow” button and stick around long-term.
2. Know Your Audience
Of course, you can’t expect to win over your listeners if you don’t know who they are. Audience research forms the core of every successful marketing strategy. You need to understand your existing followers on the deepest possible level in order to get new followers on board.
Think about who they are, where they’re located, what times they’re active, who else they listen to, what they like, what they don’t like, and so on. An understanding of your existing audience will enable you to increase your Tidal plays by appealing consistently to their interests.
It will enable you to ensure that everything you put out is a smash hit and drives a tonne of traffic to your profile page. By giving your audience exactly what it wants, you stand a much better chance of building an army of engaged followers on Tidal.
3. Post High-Quality Music
Unsurprisingly, the biggest determining factor of all will be the quality of your music. If the music you publish on Tidal is good enough, the rest should take care of itself. If your work is below par, promoting it won’t help. You, therefore, need to focus on posting high-quality music above and beyond everything else.
Along with the quality of your music in its own right, you also need to be mindful of production values. There’s really no place on Tidal for an amateur hour – everything needs to be polished and professional. Unless you are 100% confident in everything you publish, think twice about publishing it.
4. Post Consistently
Posting consistently means ensuring there’s a steady stream of content coming from your account. You need to release music frequently to keep people engaged, as the average Tidal user has a very short attention span. Leave things too long, and they will quickly lose interest, subsequently taking their listenership elsewhere.
Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean making the mistake of posting content purely for the sake of it. You need to post consistently, but everything you post needs to be equally high in quality and value. Posting consistently also means ensuring you schedule every new release for your target audience’s peak hours.
Your content calendar needs to be built around the times your listeners are most engaged and active online. The best time to post on Tidal is whatever time your listeners are most active. Something that varies by way of location, age, time zone, lifestyle, and other factors.
5. Build Strategies to Release New Music
Building strategies to release new music means not simply making things up as you go along. Whether working on your next playlist, a series of new tracks, or a remix of something you’ve already put out, a release strategy is essential for all new content.
This means planning exactly when you intend to release your new work and creating a sense of urgency in the meantime. Drum up the hype, keep your audience in the loop and let them know when it’s coming. Promote all of your new releases ahead of time, building anticipation to the point where people cannot wait to hear (or see it).
In doing so, your new releases will attract so much more attention when they finally drop, driving huge traffic to your artist profile and helping you get more followers on board.
6. Pitch Your Music To Playlist Curation Sites
Being proactive holds the key to getting your music out to as many potential listeners as possible. Not to mention generating the kind of interest in your Tidal profile that will help you gain followers in no time. This is where pitching your music to popular playlist curation sites is a no-brainer.
There are so many sites and services that exist for the sole purpose of promoting artists and their work to millions of potential listeners. What’s great about pitching to playlist curation sites is how it gives you the opportunity to reach new audiences beyond the confines of Tidal.
It’s also 100% free of charge and something you can do as often as you like. If you get featured on even one popular playlist curation site, it could trigger the kind of engagement boost you need to increase your follower count in a big way.
7. Ask Fans, Friends, and Family to Become Tidal Followers
One of the easiest ways to give your follower count an instant boost is to simply ask pretty much everyone you know to follow you on Tidal. Friends, family members, colleagues at work, listeners, those who attend your live shows – anyone who would be willing to help you out.
Drop a simple request to follow you to everyone you know (either in person or via social media), and chances are plenty of them will do just that. At this point, you could take things a step further and ask them to recommend you to their own friends and followers.
Ask them to share links to your most popular music and to generally help spread the word about what you do. A simple yet effective tactic that could translate to plenty of new followers.
8. Cross-Promote Your Music on Other Social Networks
Getting into the habit of cross-promoting your music is essential. This means using all online channels at your disposal to spread the word about who you are and what you do. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Medium, Audiomack, Likee, and TikTok, in particular, are absolute musts for promoting your work on Tidal.
Showcase your best work, post links to your profile page, and remind them to check you out. The simple fact of the matter is that if they follow you elsewhere, they’ll probably be more than happy to follow you on Tidal. Work towards creating a unified presence that combines all of your online assets, where everyone knows exactly how to find your Tidal profile and follow you.
9. Share Your Playlists via Reddit
Most popular music streaming services have a subreddit, and Tidal is no exception. If you aren’t already making full use of the Tidal playlists subreddit, you could be missing out on something huge. Music lovers from around the world, spanning all niches flock to Reddit each day to check out the latest high-profile playlists.
Artists are invited to post their favorite playlists for other listeners to check out, making it the perfect place to pitch their best work. Once again, it’s all about generating as much exposure as possible for your Tidal account and the music you publish.
Reddit has upwards of 430 million monthly active users, making it the perfect promotional platform for Tidal artists. The more people you engage on Reddit, the more followers you can expect to gain on Tidal as a result.
10. Promote Your Music via a Mailing List
As an up-and-coming artist, it is essential to build and maintain an active mail contact list. Even today, e-mail marketing has the potential to generate engagement that goes beyond the most type of paid promotions. Each time a fan gives you their e-mail address (and permission to contact them), they’re indicating they want to hear more.
In this case, it simply makes sense to send out regular emails to your entire mailing list, letting them know about your new music and upcoming releases. More generally, it’s a great idea to include a link to your Tidal account in your e-mail signature.
This way, each and every communication you send out could potentially drive traffic to your profile page. The more fans you can convince to check you out on Tidal, the more followers you’ll gain as a result.
11. Promote Your Music In Popular Music Blogs
There are thousands of popular music blogs, journals, and publications doing the rounds online. Many of which are highly influential and are therefore worth approaching with your music. If you can persuade a popular publication to promote your work, you’re golden.
Even a single positive word from an influential source can be all it takes to set the snowball effect in motion. Don’t wait to be discovered or to be recommended by anyone else. Pitch yourself as an artist and promote your music as aggressively as possible. Ask music blogs and journals to recommend you to their audiences at every available opportunity.
12. Collaborate With Other Artists
Collaborations can also be pure gold on platforms like Tidal. Particularly when it comes to up-and-coming artists, the strength-in-numbers approach works wonders. Working together with other artists on collaborative tracks can be hugely enjoyable.
Likewise, reaching agreements with other artists to promote each other’s music can be enormously effective. It’s basically a case of getting out of the habit of seeing other artists as your rivals. You’d be surprised just how many could be happy to help you out – if you’re willing to do the same in return for them.
13. Buy Tidal Followers
Lastly, the best option for a quick fix is buying Tidal Followers, which is the quickest and easiest way to establish a strong presence, appeal to the platform’s algorithm, and benefit from increased exposure and revenue as a result.
