How to Make A Pinterest Pin Go Viral?

In this section, we present the compilation of golden tips that are going to cover all the factors which can help your pins go viral. All of them are tested and proven to be effective, so don’t worry about their effectiveness and apply them as soon as you finish reading this article.

1. Set Up Your Account Properly

Your first step should be to ensure your account is well set up, so nothing gets in your way as you move forward. Here’s what you need to ensure:

When you sign up, make sure that you have a business account and not a personal one because only Pinterest business accounts get access to the analytics for pins.
Your Pinterest account name should match your brand name to avoid ambiguity and ensure people can easily find your website or blog.
Upload a clear profile picture that shows your face. Also, write about yourself and your brand in the bio section. Keep the bio easy to read and enjoyable enough to hold a viewer’s attention.
After that, claim your website to check the analytics for your pins directly from your site’s dashboard.

Once you’ve checked all these factors, it means your account is set up correctly, and you can move on to the next step.

2. Create Viral Pins

Want to go viral? Create viral pins on Pinterest. Sounds simple, right? But it’s not, actually. To create an excellent pin that gets shared by people and goes viral on the platform, you’ll need to focus on several key factors.

First, you’ll need to create an innovative pin design. Forget those stock template designs and think of something aesthetic and out of the box – a pin that makes people stop scrolling their feed and want to share your image.

Remember that Pinterest is a platform that has a reputation for serving its viewers aesthetic and eye-catching content, so if you want your pins to go viral, make sure they are mesmerizing and enchant enough to hold a viewer’s attention.

The second is the idea behind the pin. With millions of aesthetic images on Pinterest, uploading one more won’t make much difference. It means you need to focus on the ideas as well, ensuring they are unique and out of the box.

A pin featuring an aesthetic image and an original idea encourages users to click and explore its source, ultimately directing them to your website. It increases your page views, which in turn boosts your revenue through AdSense or product sales.

3. Find And Use Keywords To Optimize the Pin

Entering the right keywords for your pin is crucial to ensure it reaches the right audience and gets shared by them to go viral eventually. When someone searches for a specific idea, they enter a keyword in the search bar and select a pin from the search results.

It means that if you add relevant and trending keywords to your pin, your pin might also appear in search results when someone searches for those keywords, right? So, add as many relevant keywords as possible to your pin so it can show up in search results for those terms.

4. Use Hashtag

Hashtags help the Pinterest algorithm in recognizing the genre of a pin and in recommending it to the right audience. Here’s how it works. For example, if your pin is about lifestyle and you have added the relevant hashtags to it, the algorithm will recognize them and will show your pin to the users interested in lifestyle ideas.

Let’s say if that interested audience liked your pins, they would share them with others and who knows, and your pin might go viral. That’s why it’s so vital for you to add all the relevant hashtags to your pins to increase their reach and chances of getting shared and going viral.

5. Use Photo Badges

Always add a photo badge/ your brand’s logo to all the pins you upload. Make sure to add it in a prominent spot where it is clearly visible to the viewers, and they know the origin of the pin and can search for your site or blog, even without chasing down a link.

6. Post Pins Properly

Posting pins alone won’t make them go viral; you need to post them properly to get them on people’s smart feed and go viral. But what does it mean to post a pin properly? Well, if you’ve done the following things, then you’ve posted a pin properly.

Make sure that the pin is aesthetic and eye-catching
Added relevant keywords and hashtags to your pin
Post Pins at the ideal time
Posted the pin on your board and shared all relevant boards
Promoted your pin
Shared your pin in group boards
Participated in group conversations and invited people to check out your pins

Now, we haven’t talked about some of the points in these bullets, but don’t worry, and we’ve covered them all further in the article. Just remember that this checklist must be entirely accurate if you want your pins to be adequately posted and go viral.

7. Build Your Platform

You can either try to make people watch your content, or you can focus on building your audience and increase more Pinterest followers on your profile to get more shares. Having a dedicated fan base on Pinterest can really help you a lot is going viral.

Let’s say that you make pins relevant to gaming, and over the years, you’ve managed to build a strong audience of your own. Now, you won’t have to worry about trying to increase your pin’s reach. Instead, you can just ask your audience to share your pin.

They will heed your call and share your post, and thus your pin’s reach will boost automatically, and the more interested audience will see it. The point is that going viral becomes easier if you build an audience, so give time to your followers to form a fan base.

8. Host Discussions

Another way of engaging the audience and attracting people to your pins is by hosting discussions. Start a discussion on any hot topic and ask people to share their opinions on it. As more and more people will join the conversation, some of them will explore to see your pins.

This will increase the chances of your pins getting shared by the audience and thus going viral. Therefore, try to find interesting topics from time and time and hold discussions on them to attract a more interesting audience and increase your followers to go viral with their help.

9. Add A Pin It Button

Make sure to add a Pin it button to your posts to allow visitors to pin your blog post or image on their Pinterest account. Doing this step will increase your post’s number of shares and odds of going viral, so don’t forget to add a pin it button to all your posts.

10. Use Alt Text

Adding an alt text or alternative text to your image is necessary as it gives description to the image, and when someone pins your image on their account, the alt text starts appearing as that pin’s description.

That’s why try to spend time coming up with a short but wholesome alt text that can define your pin and make it easier for a viewer to understand the idea behind it.

11. Add Attractive Titles And Descriptions

An eye-catching title and an interesting description can play an important role in convincing someone to share your pin on their account. All of the pins that go viral always have a very catchy title that describes the concept of the pin in a few words, and the description does the rest.

So, impress your viewers with eye-catching titles and hold their attention with an interesting description to increase your pins’ reach and shares.

12. Promote Your Pins on Other Networks

How will your pins go viral if people won’t know about them? That’s why you need to share your pins on every possible platform within your reach to show your friends, family, colleagues, and community that you’re creating content on Pinterest.

You can start your promotional campaign with your usual social media platforms like Snapchat, YouTube etc. Share your pins on these platforms with the link to your account, and ask friends to visit your profile for more interesting pins like this one.

You can also send the link to your account to your mailing list or add it to your email signature, so it can appear at the bottom of every email you exchange. The more you share your pins, the more people will know about them, and thus more chances of your pins going viral.

13. Repin Others’ Content

If you like someone else’s pins, make sure to repin it on your account (by manual pinning) and promote their content. This will help you in two ways. The first is that it will help you build relations in the community, and your peers will help you promote your content.

The second is that it will show your audience what kind of taste you have and what other artists you like. This is a step that will help you build your presence as an influencer and draw people’s attention towards your account and pins, which helps you in becoming a sensation.

14. Pin to Relevant Group Boards

All Pinterest users are well aware of what group boards are and how they work. Group boards are basically a place where you can find all the best quality pins relevant to a topic. For example, there are groups pertinent to boards on gaming, lifestyle, K-pop, BTS, and many more.

Now, you can either create a group board of your own to share your pins or pin your images to another relevant group board. In both scenarios, it will present your pins to an interested audience seeking more relevant content on a specific topic.

So, posting your content on group boards can give you the necessary exposure and increase your shares and chances of making your pins viral in a respective category. (Tip: to find out the details about a group board, read the board descriptions to know about its genre and rules.)
