LinkedIn has spread its roots so far in social lives that now we can’t imagine a world without it. Every professional tries their best to promote their profile, and while most use social media for this task, some ask how to add LinkedIn to email signature to use a retro marketing tactic.
Yes! We’re talking about the good old email marketing here, which is still effective and considered one of the best tactics in marketing 101. Of course, those who are more into modern methods of marketing might question the effectiveness of using (what seems like an odd move) email signatures for the promotion of a LinkedIn business account or personal profile page.
Why Email Signature for Promotion?
The best advantage that emails signature promotion has over social media marketing is that people might forget to check their Instagram feeds and post tags on Facebook, but they will never forget to check their email at the start of their day.
And what will they find in your email? That’s right! A link to your LinkedIn profile, which they can click on to reach your account and see your connections, professional info, and even your other social media accounts.
Perhaps no further persuading is required to prove that using an email signature is beneficial for your LinkedIn promotion, and since we’ve established this, here is how you can add LinkedIn to your email signature by applying the steps given in the following sections.
3 Types of Adding a LinkedIn Email Signature
There are three presentation methods that you can use to add LinkedIn to your email signature. Here we have described all 3 of them in great detail.
1. Profile Link
It’s the first and simplest method of adding LinkedIn to an email signature. All you got to do is copy the link to your profile and add the URL to your email signature. To copy your profile URL, go to your LinkedIn profile page, and on the right-hand side, you’ll see the option Click on this option, and you’ll be redirected to a new page.
Here you can copy your profile’s existing link located under the edit your custom URL section. Or you can click on the “Pencil Icon” next to it to customize it.
2. Text with Hyperlink
You can also place your LinkedIn profile’s URL behind a call to action. For example, you can use a CTA like here’s my LinkedIn profile, on which people can click to view your profile. The general structure of an email signature looks like this:
- First Name Last Name
- Rank in the business
- Contact information
- Check out my LinkedIn Profile | Follow me on Facebook
You can place your call to action in the end, just like shown in the example. You can also use this tactic to promote your other profile, like your personal Facebook profile or a public Instagram page, etc.
3. Image with Hyperlink
Since visual content is more attractive compared to text, it’s an excellent idea to place a hyperlink behind an image in the email signature. It goes something like this:
- Upload the LinkedIn icon in your email signature by clicking on the Insert image option.
- Set the image’s location at the end of the section.
- Now, add the hyperlink behind it.
- Save all the changes to finish the process
Some email services don’t allow their users to upload images in the signature section, so you can use the URL of the image to render it.

Step 4: There, you need to look for the signature section, and after you’ve enabled it, paste the template into it.
Step 5: Tap on the “Save” button to end the process.
6. Other Options
You don’t just have to go with traditional presentation methods to add LinkedIn in your email signature. There’s also another method that you can use, which is a bit more innovative and invokes trust. It’s called embedding the LinkedIn badge in the signature.
It’s nothing complex at all. You just have to upload the LinkedIn logo to your email signature and add the hyperlink behind it. That’s it! The benefit of using this tactic is that it eye-catching and looks quite professional.
Also, if you’re using a platform that requires you to use HTML for setting up the email signature, then here’s the code will go.
<h3>First Name Last Name</h3> <h4>Rank in the company</h4> <h5>Contact info</h5> <a href= “link to your LinkedIn profile”> Here’s my LinkedIn profile </a>
Remember that all the tags represent headings and the tag is for links. You need to place your link in the “href” section for the link to work. For any additional information that you don’t want to highlight, you can use a
paragraph tag (<p>content</p>) for the content
Conclusion
They say Old is Gold, and there’s no doubt about it! Email signatures are an old method of promotion, but marketers believe in their effectiveness, so we hope you’ll have faith too and build an email signature for your account using these steps today.
