Telegram is a robust and secure messaging app that has been around since 2013 and has more than 1 billion active users globally.. However, after almost a decade, people still struggle with some of its basic features, like group chat asking how to add members to the Telegram group.
Adding group members itself isn’t much of a task – it’s the problems associated with it that make this endeavor a bit difficult. For example, some people can’t figure out how to add people in their contacts list to a group or even create a telegram group from scratch.
The surprising thing is that even after these challenges, people don’t give up on creating a Telegram and expanding a Telegram group, as it helps them build an audience that they can use for promotional purposes later on.
So, for all the desperate Telegram users who really want to add more members to their groups, here’s a complete guide that will help you out every step of the way and teach you various methods of adding members to your Telegram group.
How to Add Members in Telegram Group?
Adding members to a Telegram group for the first time can seem to be a bit daunting, but we assure you there’s nothing to worry about. Just follow this step-by-step guide, and soon you will be able to add all your friends with a telegram account to your group.
Now, you can add members to your Telegram group using both your mobile device and desktop. Let’s see how we do it through the mobile first.
1. Using by Mobile App
If you’re going to add members to an existing group, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open your Telegram mobile app.
Step 2: Go to your group’s list and navigate to the group in which you want to add the members.
Step 3: Now, open the group info, and under its name section, tap on the “Add members” option.
Step 4: You will be taken to the list of your contacts, where you can add the members to the group directly. (Make sure you’ve allowed the telegram app to access the contacts, or you won’t be able to complete this step.)
Step 5 You can also “Copy an Invite Link” and “Send” it to your friends through other mediums.
To add members to a private Telegram group, follow the given steps:
Step 1: Open your private Telegram group and tap on the “Add Members” option.
Step 2: To make sure that the group remains private, you will have to invite the group via link. So, “Copy the Invite Link” and “Send” it to all the people you wish to invite.
Step 3: Make sure to set an expiry time over the invite link so random people can’t use it to join your group later.
2. Using by Desktop
To add members to your Telegram group using a desktop, you just need to follow these simple steps given below:
Step 1: Go to the Telegram web app or desktop application and “Log In” to your account.
Step 2: Click on the group to which you want to add the members. You will be able to see your groups on the left sidebar. (Or you can search them from the search bar).
Step 3: Once the group is opened, navigate to the upper right corner of the screen and click on the “Three dots.”
Step 4: From the dropdown option, select the “Add Members” option.
Step 5: Now, you can either add members using the contacts list or copy the invite link and send it to your friends.
For creating and adding members in a private group on Telegram, follow these steps:
Step 1: To create a new private group on Telegram, navigate to the upper left corner of the screen and click on the “Three Lines.”
Step 2: Now, click on the “New Group” option.
Step 3: A pop-up will appear in which you’ll be asked to “Name the Group.”
Step 4: After naming the group, “click Next,” and you will be redirected to your contacts list for adding members, but since you want to keep the group private, don’t use this approach.
Step 5: “Copy the Invite Link” with a set expired time and “Send” it to the people you wish to add to your group.
How to Add Multiple Members in Telegram Group?
It’s possible to add members in bulk on a Telegram group, but the problem is that you can’t add 200 members or any unlimited or undefined audience in a group using manual methods. So, how is it possible then? The commonly used method is to add fake group members (bots) to your group. Bots are basically members with fake profiles.
They do look like original members with a proper username, a description, and a profile picture, but they are nothing but hollow avatars. To add bots to your group, you can either use any auto-adder software or a Telegram bot that automatically generates fake members and adds them to your desired group.
However, the downside of adding bots to your group is that they surely increase the number of members but don’t increase your group’s engagement, reach, or interaction.
So, you can say that bots are good for showing off that you’ve got a broad spread community, but they don’t provide any real advantage. Of course, there’s a better and more practical approach to solve this problem, too, which you can explore in the following subheading.
